Introduction

Some of the products we buy from supermarkets and high street shops have been made by slaves. Well known companies have abused human rights, destroyed the environment and put lives at risk.

As consumers, we have more power even than governments to change things. We can boycott companies, not buying any of their products or services. We can raise awareness, letting other people know about what they are doing. Simply asking your local newsagent to stock Fair Trade chocolate bars like Dubble will make a difference.

Since the Nigerian government hanged 9 environmental activists in 1995 for speaking out against exploitation by Royal Dutch/Shell and the Nigeria government, outrage has exploded worldwide...
